Ideas needed!!!

My school is involved in a feasability study for the provision of extra learning spaces due to a huge increase in numbers of students. The current library is not adequate either in size or design. I am interested in collecting ideas from people who have either built new libraries or renovated existing ones.

Hi Pauline
I think a teaching space that can be closed off from the rest of the library is essential but has problems if you have limited space:
- lose the 'open space' feel and makes the library look smaller
- can be a waste of space when not in use.

One way to overcome this is by using bifold doors that can be opened to make the room part of the library floor space when not in use and closed off when you need a quiet area.

One of the ideas we have is to get them (meaning DECS) to extend the building out towards the oval - thereby creating a teaching space that can be closed off if necessary.
Another option is to move out of the current space and take over another building in the school and fit it out.
It will all be down to money in the end.
